At the 2024 EADE Conference that was held in the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Slovakia, in June this year, discussions were held by Professor Arta Basha-Jakupi (Vice-Rector) and Professor Violeta Nushi (Dean of the Faculty of Architecture (FA-UP)), both of the University of Pristina, Pristina, Kosovo, with the WIETE Director, Professor Zenon J. Pudlowski on the possibility of the FA-UP becoming a partner institution of the WIETE, and thus creating an opportunity for collaboration with the existing partners of the WIETE - renown faculties of architecture in Poland and Slovakia.
After further consultations and the exchange of information, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on partnership between the WIETE and the FA-UP was signed up remotely on 10 October 2024 in Melbourne by the WIETE Director, and on 22 October 2024 in Pristina by Professor Nushi, thus establishing the FA-UP as the fifth partner faculty of architecture in the WIETE network.
As per the information received from Professor Nushi, the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Pristina (FA-UP) is a public higher education institution dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and professional practice. Its mission emphasizes providing lifelong learning opportunities, fostering academic mobility, and nurturing scientific and artistic creativity. FA-UP addresses societal and market needs by promoting innovation in urban-architectural sustainability, urbanism and spatial planning, design, cultural heritage, applied technology in architecture, and energy efficiency. Through active collaboration with national and international institutions, FA-UP aims to prepare students and staff for global competition while contributing valuable expertise to both local and international communities.
Under the signed MoU, the two parties mutually agreed to pursue the mission, aims and objectives of the WIETE, in collaboration with the other partners of the WIETE, in order to promote and further develop engineering and technology education, and architecture, in particular, for the benefit of all parties involved, as well as the European and global communities of engineering and technology education.
