The 2018 Conference on Engineering and Architecture Design Education (EADE 2018) was organised under the joint patronage of the Faculty of Architecture at Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Bratislava, Slovakia (STU), in collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture, Cracow University of Technology, Kraków, Poland (CUT), and the World Institute for Engineering and Technology Education (WIETE). It was held from 11 to 14 June 2018 in the STU’s Faculty of Architecture in Bratislava, Slovakia. The Conference commenced with an Opening Ceremony attended by the Conference Patron, Professor Robert Redhammer, Rector of the University, who delivered the Opening Welcome on behalf of the host institution.

The Faculty’s management was represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, A/Professor Lubica Vitkova, Conference Honorary Chairman, and Professor Robert Špaček, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Architecture; President of the WIETE International Academic Advisory Committee (WIETE-IAAC) and the Conference General Co-Chairman. The Faculty of Architecture at Cracow University of Technology was represented by Professor Grażyna Schneider-Skalska, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, and Professor Sabina Kuc, the Conference General Co-Chairman and Vice-President of the WIETE-IAAC. The WIETE was represented by it Directors, Professor Zenon J. Pudlowski and Mrs Dorota I. Pudlowski. Several introductory and welcome addresses were presented by the Conference officials.

The Conference attracted more than 40 participants from seven countries worldwide and provided the participants with opportunities to interact on all aspects of engineering and architecture design education. Such interactions included team work, panel debates, group discussions, student presentations, and were led and aided by several eminent international keynote speakers, leaders of the specific areas of interest. A seminar for PhD students held on Wednesday, 13 June 2018 comprised two parts: presentations of progress with their PhD dissertations by several STU students, and an interactive seminar on how to write and how to quote prepared and conducted by Mrs Dorota Pudlowski and Professor Zenon J. Pudlowski.

The Conference Banquet was held on the same day and Professor Wacław Celadyn, Director of the Institute of Building Design, in the Faculty of Architecture at Cracow University of Technology, Kraków, Poland, was presented with a diploma by WIETE Director Professor Zenon J. Pudlowski, certifying his election as a WIETE Fellow. On the recommendation of the WIETE-IAAC, a Fellowship membership grade was established in February 2012. This is the WIETE’s highest grade of membership and is awarded to prominent academics with an international involvement in engineering and technology education. The citation mentioned that the recipient of this honour received it ...in recognition of his distinguished contributions to engineering and technology education, outstanding achievements in the globalisation of engineering and technology education through the activities of the WIETE, and particularly for exceptional service to the WIETE. We congratulate Professor Celadyn on this award, and trust that he will continue with his strong input to global engineering and architecture education, as well as providing his unequivocal support to the WIETE and its activities.
