After a long break, the Conference on Engineering and Architecture Design Education (EADE-2023), was held in face-to-face mode between 12 and 14 June 2023, under the joint patronage of the Faculty of Architecture at Wrocław University of Science and Technology (FA-WUST), Wrocław, Poland; the Faculty of Architecture at Cracow University of Technology (FA-CUT), Kraków, Poland; the Faculty of Architecture at Gdańsk University of Technology (FA-GUT), Gdańsk, Poland; and the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (FAD-STU), Bratislava, Slovakia; as well as the World Institute for Engineering and Technology Education (WIETE), Melbourne, Australia.
The Conference proceedings commenced with the Opening Ceremony held on Monday, 12 June 2023, at which the WIETE Director, Professor Zenon J. Pudlowski, presented a brief introduction, indicating some motives for the Conference, as well as the Conference objectives. He also introduced the Conference Patron, His Magnificence Professor Arkadiusz Wójs, Rector of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, who cordially welcomed the participants to the Conference, and officially opened this gathering of academics.
Professor Pudlowski then introduced the representatives of the collaborating institutions that was followed by welcomed addresses presented by the following persons:
The first to present his Welcome Address was Conference Co-Chairman, Professor Robert Špaček of the FAD-STU, and the outgoing President of the WIETE International Academic Advisory Committee (WIETE-IAAC). His welcome was followed by Professor Ľubica Vitková, Vice-Rector and Former Dean of the then Faculty of Architecture at Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.
Then, several welcoming addresses were presented starting with the Dean of the FA-CUT, Professor Magdalena Kozień-Woźniak; followed by Professor Lucyna Nyka, Dean of the FA-GUT and Vice-President of the WIETE-IAAC; and finally, by Professor Barbara Gronostajska, Dean of the FA-WUST - the host institution, and Conference Chairperson.
The Opening Ceremony was concluded by a music interlude delivered by a student duo, Ms Natalia Wojtaś, a student of the FA-WUST, and Mr Łukasz Ostrowski.
Six Opening Lectures were presented in the afternoon, in two sessions chaired by Professor Barbara Gronostajska and Professor Romuald Tarczewski, both of the FA-WUST.
All together close to 30 papers were presented during the Conference, plus a special open session delivered by Mrs Dorota I. Pudlowski and Professor Zenon J. Pudlowski of WIETE, entitled: WIETE Interactive Presentation: Publishing in WIETE journals - acceptance, metrics, impact. Most papers addressed aspects of the Conference topics with a strong focus on architectural education as a specific branch of engineering. The Conference provided the participants with an excellent opportunity to interact with the speakers on all aspects of engineering and architecture design education.
