The World Institute for Engineering and Technology Education (WIETE) has been registered with the Australian Securities & Investments Commission, Australia, as an education entity and it operates under the Corporations Act 2001.

In its 15 years history the WIETE has experienced ups and downs mostly in tandem with the sweeping changes in academia, publishing requirements, and also the recent pandemic, global economy and the ever-changing academic financial status and operations. The biggest interruption was the Covid-19 pandemic, which has significantly affected our activities, with some remnants of it still lingering around.

The type of the WIETE’s incorporation was chosen for simplicity and the clarity of its legal and financial operations. The thus created environment is independent, interactive, open and friendly towards international academics and other global educators who can share their ideas, research and development achievements with other likeminded colleagues in the field of engineering and technology education.

Over the years, the WIETE has made a considerable impact on the international community by organising international and regional conferences and meetings, and publishing research papers in two international journals - the Global Journal of Engineering Education (GJEE), and the World Transactions on Engineering and Technology Education (WTE&TE).

This impeccable record includes the following events organised or co-organised in various parts of the world: ten WIETE Annual Conferences on Engineering and Technology Education; four World Conferences on Technology and Engineering Education; five Mediterranean Seminars on Technology and Engineering Education; five Conferences on Engineering and Architecture Design Education (EADE), three face-to-face and two on-line conferences co-organised with the WIETE Partner Institutions. Some of the early conferences also published fully edited conference proceedings (seven). The geographic coverage of the host institutions included such places as: Athens, Greece; Bangkok and Pattaya, Thailand; Bratislava, Slovakia; Cairns, Australia; Gdańsk, Kraków and Wrocław, Poland; and Ljubljana, Slovenia.

As far as the journal article publication is concerned, the WTE&TE published over 1,100 research articles in 16 volumes and 59 issues, including the recently published one (Vol.22, No.1). The GJEE published close to 400 research articles in 15 volumes and 41 issues, including the recent one (Vol.26, No.1). In proudly listing the WIETE publication achievements, one may mention that the delays in publishing that occurred in the initial years were mainly due to the transition of the ownership from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, to the WIETE.

On this happy jubilee occasion, it is worth reiterating our motto: Serving the International Engineering and Technology Community, to which the WIETE has remained faithful, making a considerable contribution to the world of science, engineering, technology and education. At this point, one must also acknowledge the strong support that over the years the WIETE has received from our Partner Institutions, as well as many individual academics, who deserve our genuine and deep appreciation - thank you for your co-operation, overall input into the WIETE’s operations, incisive comments and suggestions! Let us hope that the next years will be equally fruitful!
