WIETE NEWS

  17 November 2012

Professor Derek O. Northwood of the Department of Mechanical, Automotive and Materials Engineering at the University of Windsor, Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and the former President of the WIETE International Academic Advisory Committee (WIETE-IAAC) (since its inception in March 2009 until September 2010) was in Melbourne, Australia, to attend an international conference on corrosion.

Accompanied by his wife Marilyn, he met the WIETE Director, Professor Zenon J. Pudlowski and his wife Dorota over a relaxed meal that featured Australian cuisine and white wine at the famous Chloe's Lounge and Restaurant in Melbourne.

The parties discussed a range of issues concerning the internationalisation of engineering and technology education, and the impact of current global financial crisis (GFC). The WIETE Director also briefed the visitors on the operation and recent activities of the WIETE. High on the agenda was the forthcoming 4th WIETE Annual Conference on Engineering and Technology Education, to be held in Cairns, Australia, between 11 and 15 February 2013. It is anticipated that the Northwoods will attend this WIETE meeting.
