On the recommendation of the Executive of the WIETE International Academic Advisory Committee (WIETE-IAAC), a membership grade called Fellowship, was established in February 2012. This is the WIETE’s highest membership grade, awarded to prominent international academics involved in engineering and technology education.

A distinguished Australian academic, Prof. Steve Thatcher, Foundation Professor of Aviation and Development Lead - Aviation, Head of Aviation at Central Queensland University, Cairns, Australia, was elected a WIETE Fellow on this occasion and was presented with his diploma at the Conference Banquet by Prof. Zenon J. Pudlowski, WIETE Director at the 10th Jubilee WIETE Annual Conference on Engineering and Technology Education, held in Bangkok, Thailand, on Wednesday, 20 February 2019.

The citation states that the recipient of this WIETE honour has received it ...in recognition of his distinguished contributions to engineering and technology education, outstanding achievements in the globalisation of engineering and technology education through the activities of the WIETE, and, in particular, for exceptional service to the WIETE.

We would like to congratulate Prof. S. Thatcher on the award and wish him continuing success with his exceptional input to the world of engineering and technology, and to thank him unreservedly for his remarkable contribution to the life and activities of the WIETE.
